I was going through a tough season. Countless faculty, and staff truly had no clue how much their kind words encouraged me to believe in myself. Thank you "Coach Dixon"! (as we called you in school). If you know anything about Shelby County Schools, you know our current superintendent is the one and only FANTASTIC Dr. Brooks. I’ve seen it said many times that his position will be big shoes to fill, and I couldn’t agree more. I also can’t think of anyone more fitting to fill those shoes than Joel C Dixon. The superintendent seat is so much more than being an educator - it is the highest level of leadership. I’ve had the privilege of working very closely alongside Mr. Dixon and can without a doubt say he’s the man for the job! He serves with such humility and gentleness and grace every single day. He is a man of God who inspires me to be better and consistently encourages those around him. I see Jesus in him, just like Dr. Brooks, and would love for our district to continue in this manner!

Mr. Dixon was one of my high school principals. Although he served in that role for only a short time during my high school years, he made a lasting impact. During our time together, I learned so much from his leadership—he taught me to lead with honesty, and his decisions were always just and fair. I will never forget his involvement in our Friday afternoon pep rallies—he knew how to lead well and have fun!

Even after my time at Calera High School ended, he has continued to check in and offer support, which speaks to his genuine commitment to students and their success. His leadership skills, integrity, and dedication to education would serve our district exceptionally well.

I will be voting Joel Dixon for Superintendent on May 19.
